Richard took his family on little holiday to Alton Towers. Little did he know that fate had other plans for his trip. Were it not for a paycheck advance, he and his family may have had to come back home early and disappointed. Richard writes:
My wife and I had been saving our pence for six months in order to take our family to Alton Towers for three days. We had all of our money stashed away in our bank and planned to use our debit card to finance the trip. Little did I know that my bank had a policy regarding sudden increases in spending outside of the area where we lived.
When we got to Alton Towers that first day, imagine my surprise when the lady at the ticket booth said that our card was declined. I was embarrassed and upset. I knew we had over £1,000 in our account, so there was no reason for us to get denied for these tickets which cost less than £100. Not wanting to lose our place in line, I pulled out a credit card and paid for the tickets. Once we got inside the park, I got on my cell phone and called the bank’s customer service department. Turns out that they have a policy to prevent theft or fraud and I should have notified them that we were leaving Yorkshire for Alton Towers on a holiday. The bloke on the phone told me that he’d authorize my account right away but that it would take twenty-four to forty-eight hours before my card would become usable in the area. Well what were we going to do? I’d spent the last of my available credit on the card buying tickets and didn’t have a lot of cash on me. Certainly not enough to pay for a family of four to enjoy two days at Alton Towers, and for the rooms there in Stafforshire.
I remembered then a friend of mine at work telling me about a paycheck advance he’d gotten a couple of months ago when he had an emergency situation and I wondered if the same thing could help me. I called him, got the number and then called the paycheck advance centre. The lady on the phone was real nice and asked me a few simple questions. Once we were done she told me I had been approved and that the money would be deposited in my account the very next morning. Relieved, we were able to continue our vacation on the cash I had for that first day, the paycheck advance the second day, and my bank finally cleared things up with my funds the third day which rounded out our holiday.
There’s no telling what we would have done without that advance. I wanted to thank you for saving our family holiday.
