Jack was an ordinary guy, like any other ordinary guy who lived paycheck to paycheck barely making ends meet because he did not budget. He recalls how he would sometimes wonder in his job as an Office Manager, why it was that his £500 weekly pay would somehow seem to vanish into thin air. He lives in a flat in Bath that he only has to pay £470 a month for, has very few bills beyond the cable shows he has to watch on the tele and takes his girlfriend out occasionally — well, more than occasionally. Actually, Jack takes his girlfriend out on a weekly basis.
So when Jack’s girlfriend reminded him on one of their outings that she was excited about their 6 month anniversary coming up in two days, he played it cool and expressed his excitement as well. He had just shot the last quid on this date with her and was not due to be paid for another four days. After searching frantically through his home for something that he could create or make up that would effectively express his incredible joy at having spent 6 months with his girlfriend, Jack came to the terrifying conclusion that he would have to borrow money somehow to buy an anniversary gift.
Jack did not want to look to his chums for the money, because he did not want to have to explain what it was for. They had been ribbing him about his relationship with his girl for weeks now and did not want to hear them go on about it. His mum and dad were off on vacation and would not be returning for a week, so Jack considered a paycheck advance. After shopping around for the best rate he could find, Jack settled for an online two-week payday loan for £100.00 at the lowest fee he could find and had the money deposited in his account the next day. Jack bought his girlfriend an appropriate gift and deposited the remainder back into his account to help repay the loan as planned.
Unfortunately, a few days later, Jack and his girlfriend had a nasty blowout during which she insisted that she never wanted to set eyes on him again and threw his present back at him. Being a practical sort, Jack immediately returned the gift to the store and received a credit back to his account.
Wrapped up as he was in his thoughts over his girlfriend, Jack was perplexed when an unexpected cheque was deposited into his account a few days later, taking £100 from his account plus the loan fee. He was about to call his bank and demand an explanation when he remembered his payday loan. Thanks to his wisdom in returning the money he borrowed back to the account rather than spending the money on other things, Jack had only to pay a fee for his loan and was able to continue his lifestyle with hardly interruption at all.
When Jack’s girlfriend forgave him a day later he was able to afford taking her out for a make-up dinner.
