Chloe Jones Success Story

Last year just before Yule time, my husband and I, living on a fixed budget had purchased the few Christmas presents for each other that we could afford, and saved up just enough money for the December rent. What happened next was unexpected and unpleasant to say the least.

An Unexpected Surprise

The account we had saved our mortgage payment in was suddenly and unexpectedly debited for £250. My husband called the bank, furious at first to find out what the error was, but he was chagrined to learn that the charge had not been a mistake, it had been for the annual fee for a product that we use that we had signed up for last year as a Christmas present to ourselves. Now we were suddenly stuck with December 1st fast approaching and we were £250 short of being able to afford our rent payment.

Well, the first of the month came and went and we knew that on the 3rd, we would be charged a £30 late fee. After the 10th we would be charged an additional £50 late fee on top of that. Faced with the damage to our credit for being late as well as possible eviction if we didn’t come up with this money within a couple of weeks, my husband and I turned to an “old friend” that we had used once before long ago.

Help from “An Old Friend”

We had used a paycheck advance once years before to help us out of an emergency situation and we promised ourselves that we would never do it again unless we deemed it absolutely necessary to avoid some kind of disaster – after all, isn’t that the primary reason for using them? Well, this seemed to qualify to both of us, so we went online to the same place we had been to in the past in order to take advantage of any benefits we could as returning customers and applied for a simple £250 loan. Since we had done business before, we were given a special deal and were charged less in the fee for the paycheck advance than the total of our first late fee. We applied on a Tuesday and by Wednesday morning, we were able to get our hands on the money that had been deposited directly into our checking account. The very next day we wrote the full check for the rent amount, confident that the money would be there.

We re-budgeted our account throughout the three weeks we were given to repay the loan, cutting out some things we were used to and living on as little as possible to make up the £250 plus the paycheck advance fee. We managed to come up with that amount in time and repay the loan on time, ever grateful for the opportunity we had to avoid having our reputation with our landlord, our credit, and our finances saved by the ease, convenience, and 24/7 availability of a paycheck advance.
